Workshop Modules

Build capacity to delivery affirming care to neurodivergent youth and adults in your organization.

Module One: Foundations of Neurodiversity-Affirming Health & Mental Health Care
What does it mean to provide knowledgeable and non-pathologizing care to neurodivergent youth and adults? In this module, you will learn to recognize and explore neurodivergence using the NDOS (Neurodivergent Operating System) tool, not the ADOS!

Module Two: Neurodiversity and Gender Diversity Affirming Practices
Neurodivergent people are 3 to 6 times more likely to be gender divergent. They experience and express gender differently from the ‘mainstream’ LGBTQ2SIA+ community. This module focuses on how to modify care to be both neurodiversity and gender affirming.

Module Three: Modifying Traditional Therapeutic Modalities for Neurodivergent Clients
Traditional therapeutic modalities often don’t work for neurodivergent individuals. This module teaches the three pillars of the A.C.C.E.P.T. model and a modified model of emotion regulation (DBT) to address emotional, sensory, and cognitive dysregulation.

Module Four: Trauma and Neurodiversity-Affirming Mental Health Care
Trauma is more prevalent in the neurodivergent population than among neurotypicals and (c)PTSD is often misdiagnosed as it is expressed differently and more likely to result from developmental or small-t trauma. In this module, you will learn how to better recognize ND trauma and respond in ND-affirming ways.

Module Five: Cross-Neurotype Communication in the Workplace: Practical Applications
Communicating across neurotypes can be challenging for neurotypical and neurodivergent people, alike. Linguistically, we may speak the same language, but the meaning of the same words, tones of voice, or facial expressions can be wildly different, impacting inclusivity and productivity in the workplace. In this module, you will learn how common assumptions about communication don’t apply across neurotypes and how to develop a ‘third language’ to bridge the gap.
