N

Connect the dots so you can ease into life

Occupational Therapy (OT) focuses on working collaboratively with people to help them participate in daily life activities including self-care, school, work, leisure activities, caregiving or any other activities that individuals want to or need to do. If you want to explore strategies that might help you participate fully in activities related to managing your own life, transitioning between different life stages or managing life as a parent, then Occupational Therapy can support you.

Using a neurodiversity-affirming framework, the Occupational Therapist will partner with you to help you achieve your goals by highlighting your strengths and focusing on how you can engage in daily life activities authentically.

You are an expert in your own (and your child’s) life and Occupational Therapy can help bridge the gap between what you want to or need to do and what you are able to do when engaging in daily activities. Listed below are some of the focus areas our Occupational Therapist can support you with.

If you are experiencing difficulties with planning, organization, problem-solving, attention, memory or other cognitive abilities and these difficulties are impacting your ability to participate in activities at home, school, work or in the community, you can work with an Occupational Therapist to develop strategies tailored to your strengths and needs.

Life_as_Parent
If you are parenting a neurodivergent child and would like to explore strategies to support your child based on their strengths and needs, an Occupational Therapist can partner with you to address concerns you might have. For many neurodivergent children, excelling in one area of life while struggling in another area is a common experience. There can be additional challenges such as navigating complex medical and social systems to access the support your child needs.
[

For example, a child might excel at school while struggling to manage their self-care or emotional regulation needs

[

Perhaps they are struggling with completing homework and assignments at school and you would like to help them optimize their strengths

[

Researching and navigating available programs and funding for your child

[

Advocating for your child’s needs at school or in the community

If you are a neurodivergent parent of a neurodivergent child, An Occupational Therapist can provide support with additional challenges you may be experiencing such as supporting your child’s needs at home while also managing your own needs.
