Therapy

We provide a wide range of highly personalized services, for individuals, couples, families, groups and organizations.

The Scattergram approach

The Scattergram approach to counselling and therapy ranges from highly structured, psychoeducational, and skills-based to unstructured, creative, and insight-based, moving back and forth between the goals of acceptance and change.

You decide on what goals are important to you and we collaborate with you to help you move toward them.

All of our therapists are trained in a trademarked neurodiversity-affirming treatment model and all bring their own unique backgrounds, training, and skills.

Only you know what is the right fit between the therapist, therapy type (individual, couple, family, or group), treatment modality, and your goals.

Some of the modalities our practitioners draw on include Gestalt therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), sensory integration, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), compassion-focused therapy (CFT), and internal family systems (IFS) theory.

We all work with an understanding of the limitations of individual change without the corresponding social change needed to create a neurodivergent-friendly world.

Individuals

We adopt a very personalized approach with each individual, whether they are exploring their diagnosis, or sex or gender identity, seeking to improve their mental or physical health, or working through school, work, or relationship challenges.

We work with neurodivergent youth, adults, parents, and loved ones to provide individual counselling and therapy related to issues such as:

Families

We provide family counselling for youth, siblings, parents, and other loved ones to promote understanding, support, and conflict resolution. It’s not the individual who needs to change, but the interactions between individuals in the family system.

You may be a parent struggling to understand and support your neurodivergent adolescent or young adult, or you may be a young person struggling to communicate your needs to your parents. It can help to have a skilled professional mediate these kinds of conversations:

[

Understanding your family member’s diagnosis

[

Use of technology and social media

[

Household chores and rules

[

Homework and school attendance

[

Social skills, friendship, and dating

[

Sibling relationships

[

Separation, divorce, and co-parenting

[

LGBTQ2SI+ issues

[

What to do after high school

[

Anxiety, depression, OCD, substance use, eating disorders, self-harm, and other mental health issues

Couples

We offer couple counselling to support various combinations of neurotypical and neuroatypical partnerships.

You may identify as ND/ND or ND/NT couple. Differences in brain styles can create communication and sensory conflicts which impact intimacy and relationship satisfaction.

Mainstream couple counselling that does not take into account brain styles may only go part way to addressing these struggles or may miss the mark altogether. We will work with you to figure out what can change in your relationship, what is unlikely to change, and how your brains can work together more harmoniously giving you both greater emotional satisfaction and peace.
