ACCEPT™ Foundations: Neuroaffirming Practice in Action
Self-reflection in community with neurodivergent professionals who support, teach, coach, and care for others
At Scattergram, we’re not typical. Why would our training be?
ACCEPT™ Foundations: Experiencing Neuroaffirming Practice is a six-session experiential course for neurodivergent professionals who support, teach, coach, and care for others.
Together, we’ll apply the framework to ourselves, explore what it looks like in our own work, and develop practical tools and resources to bring into our work with others.
The ACCEPT™ modality of neuroffirming care is built on neuroscience, practice-based wisdom, and shared lived experience, used to create the three-pillar framework:
-
- Understanding Your Neurodivergent Operating System;
- Communicating Across Neurotypes; and
- Connecting (and Disconnecting) with Authenticity.
Each pillar contains practical strategies, handouts, and worksheets that be used in your personal and professional life.
Your Trainer has plenty ’o experience. Seriously.
Wendy McGuire has spent decades learning, teaching, researching, practicing, supervising, questioning, and occasionally discovering that the thing she thought she knew needed rethinking.
She’s an MSW, RSW, PhD, psychotherapist, educator, clinical supervisor, researcher, and creator of the ACCEPT™ Modality of Neuroaffirming Care. She has taught social work and psychotherapy students, supervised emerging practitioners, worked with neurodivergent people and their families, and spent years developing ways of understanding neurodivergence that don’t start with “How do we make this person more normal?”
She also has plenty ‘o lived experience navigating her own neurodivergence in relationships, parenting, professional life, identity, and all the other complicated bits of being a person.
Building knowledge and practices that contribute to a paradigm shift in how we view neurodivergence as a difference, not a disorder, is Wendy’s life passion. She has lived it, studied it, practiced it, taught it, supervised it, built the framework—and she knows that the people in the room will bring knowledge she doesn’t have.
ACCEPT™ has been built in community. Some of the most valuable learning comes from neurodivergent people sharing what they know from the inside: their experiences, strategies, hard-won insights, questions, skills, and discoveries.
In ACCEPT™ Foundations: Experiencing Neuroaffirming Practice, you won’t sit through six weeks of Very Serious Professional Training. You will learn with and from each other and have an experience of neuroaffirming practice that you can think with, use, question, share, laugh about, and bring into your own personal life and work.
