My Story

I am a neuro-affirming Occupational Therapist who works with children and youth (up to 16) and their family members to develop executive functioning, sensory processing, and emotional and behavioural regulation skills. As a parent of transgender and neurodivergent children, with specialized training in multiple trauma-informed modalities, I am uniquely capable of helping you build practical skills with deep understanding and empathy.

About Me

You are the parent of a neurodivergent child or teen and have been on what feels like a long road to nowhere. You’ve seen every kind of professional that exists, tried every fad diet, read every article and book, tried reward charts, and held endless meetings with teachers and school support workers. You’ve followed the rules perfectly when you can find any to follow, and nothing seems to work. Your kid has so many initials behind their name they should have a Nobel Prize. Yet, they still won’t eat, won’t go to school, can’t make friends, never complete school work on time, spend endless hours seeking dopamine hits on devices, lose everything, can’t sit still, are quiet all day at school, or melt down the second they walk through the door. As a parent of two transgender, neurodivergent children (one young adult, one teen), I’ve been there and I get it. I know what it’s like to have my child mislabelled, misdiagnosed, and misunderstood. I can help you and your child or teen in ways that no one you’ve seen yet has.

The truth is, there aren’t many professionals with the knowledge and skills of a trauma-informed Occupational Therapist to work skillfully with kids in a 2SLGBTQIA and neuro-affirming way. I probably have as many initials behind my name from all the specialized training I have completed as your child or teen has (mis)diagnoses, including:

  • Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC)
  • Feeding and Swallowing/Picky Eating, and Cognitive Rehabilitation (for ARFID)
  • PTSD and Trauma Therapy
  • Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Cognitive-Behavior Therapy (CBT)
  • Polyvagal (Trauma) Theory Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)
  • Post-viral POTS, PANDAS, PANS, and PASC (Long COVID) Training

Your child or teen isn’t doing anything wrong. They just need the right kind of support to develop skills that take into account their neurodivergent brain and nervous system so that they can shine as their authentic selves. And you need the knowledge and skills to help. Whether struggling with life skills or executive functioning challenges, sensory processing, trauma, loss, or sex or gender identity questions, I will collaborate with your family with empathy, patience, and acceptance, to help you create lives of growth, abundance, and joy. If you and your family members are ready to be fully seen and understood and to collaborate on building skills and strategies to navigate a heteronormative and neurotypical world, book a free consultation.

The Safe and Sound Protocol

Ever notice that your nervous system functions a bit like a smoke detector? It sounds the alarm with irritating screeches until you address the source of danger – much like how your nervous system goes on high alert when it detects potential threats. It’s impossible to think, socialize, or relax with that incessant beeping because, if you did, you might die!

What if your smoke detector is faulty and goes off when there’s no smoke, let alone fire? What if you can’t figure out how to turn it off long enough to make and enjoy dinner with your family or friends? A malfunctioning smoke detector needs repair. Similarly, a malfunctioning nervous system requires proper care.

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) may be helpful.
